Fine-tuning

Further training a pre-trained model on your own examples to change its behavior, style or format.

Fine-tuning adjusts a model's weights with task-specific examples. It is effective for consistent style, output formats and domain phrasing, and can let a smaller model perform a narrow task well.

It is less suited to injecting knowledge that changes often or must be cited, which is where RAG is stronger. Many production systems combine both: RAG for knowledge, light fine-tuning for format and tone.
